Tom has been a teacher of Practical Aesthetics at the Atlantic Acting School in New York City for over 15 years. With a renowned passion for embodied storytelling through visceral performance, he has helped hundreds of students across many continents to bring their gifts to the craft.

Tom’s classroom draws from his experience as a director in stage and film in order to help students craft dynamic and courageous performances in service of the story. In his courses, students learn reliable and simple strategies to help them connect to their collaborators and access the fullness of their own humanity. By learning how to break down a script and make choices to capture the audience’s attention, students leave with a foundation upon which they can construct a resilient and meaningful career.

Classes are hands-on and designed to empower the participants with deep experiential knowledge of how to apply their greatest gifts to performance in film, television and theater. Students implement analytical tools in order to imbue characters with fullness of life in performance. Though acting can seem like a mysterious craft, this course aims to demystify the process into a collection of actionable and achievable steps for all who are ready to meet the demands of the work.
